iPATH Cloud eFax Service FAQ
Can I use my existing fax machine if I subscribe to iPath Cloud Solutions’ efax service?
Yes! Our service is designed to work with your existing fax machine. As part of the service, we install an analog terminal adapter which converts the fax over IP (FoIP) signal to the analog signal used by your fax machine.
I’ve heard that fax over the Internet service is dicey at best. Am I going to have inconsistent fax delivery with your cumulus ATA service?
What you’ve heard about poor quality Internet-based fax service refers to an Internet fax standard called T.38. This protocol for Internet faxing is not very reliable. Our service utilizes a newer, much more reliable way for you to send and receive faxes. Our FoIP service is as reliable as a POTS line for transmitting faxes.
If we only replicate our existing, traditional fax machine service, will we save money?
Yes! iPATH Cloud eFax Service will save your organization approximately $150/year over fax lines from carriers like Comcast and Verizon.
Savings is good, but is the service comparable to traditional fax service?
eFax Service includes more features that will make faxing, and document storage much more efficient. First, you can view whether your fax was delivered or not from your own, personalized fax portal. Second, you can have a copy of all your incoming faxes delivered not only to your fax machine, but a copy can also be delivered to the email account of your choice. You can then store, delete or forward the fax via your email browser. Finally, you can have an email sent to you that will tell you whether your faxes forwarded successfully.
Can I keep my current fax machine number(s)?
Yes! It is easy to move your current fax number to our eFax Service.
Is Outlook the only email browser supported?
No, you can use any email browser and email address to receive pdf copies of received faxes and fax confirmations. In the application, faxes are sent via an app located in the printer option section of your word processor, Adobe, etc.
Can I receive confirmations that my fax was successful?
Yes, you may opt to receive confirmations via email. We advise that you set up a separate email box specifically for these notifications that can be accessed by multiple people. If that seems like a lot of unnecessary notifications, we can program your fax service to only email if a sent fax does not forward successfully.
Can we transmit confirmations or confirm receipt notifications via SMS?
No SMS confirmations are available now. Although under consideration for future development, this feature is not on our product roadmap, and we have not determined a release date.
Can we block junk fax numbers with the ATA product?
Currently, valid fax sending numbers cannot be blocked, even if the sender is broadcasting faxes.
Are there any operating system restrictions on the Cumulus Virtual service?
No. Sending a fax via the web portal or a formatted email will work on any platform that has a valid web browser or email client.
If I decide to junk my fax machine and subscribe to the eFax service, will my customers experience any differences in sending us a fax?
Your customers will experience no difference from a standard fax machine in using your eFax number. They will dial the fax number just like any other telephone number.
In addition to the traditional fax machine are any other fax methods available to my users?
In addition to traditional faxing, all virtual methods of sending a fax (formatted email, web portal or PC to FAX) are available to users.
